Food

I love food. I love to smell it, study it, prep it, cook it, and EAT it. An ideal Saturday consists of me sitting on the couch watching  episode after episode of cooking shows that I’ve recorded over the week. I enter them into my totally awesome Cook’n recipe software program that holds all my recipes and then I use that sucker to make a menu and a shopping list for the week.  I love food. I love Cook’n too. It makes my love for food more fun :)

I am not one of those people who, after a long hard day, wants to pop something in the microwave and relax on the sofa. I find the preparation of food relaxing. Sure, I throw out the occasional four-letter word when it doesn’t go the way I expected and something slingshots accross the kitchen or lands on the floor, but it doesn’t stress me out. The whole experience is fun for me.

The term “foodie” was coined in 1984 by Ann Barr and Paul Levy. In their book, they explain that a foodie is “a person who is very very very interested in food. Foodies are the ones interested in food in any gathering – salivating over restaurants, recipes and radicchio. They don’t think they are being trivial – Foodies consider food to be an art, on a level with painting and drama. It’s actually your favourite art form.” This is me.
