The Goal
First time blogger. Eek.
I started this blog in hopes that it will keep me going toward my goal to finish a Marathon (26.2 miles) for my 26th birthday. Cute, right? Not really. I’m not a runner. I’m not really even a walker-I take the elevator at work….
My first milestone is to finish a half before the year is up.
I want a personal challenge to make me feel good about myself and feel like I’ve done something in life.
21 Jan 2010 is my first day of training. Here goes nothin’. Wish me luck!

What a great blog topic….sounds a lot like me! I started my blog in December and decided to blog about travel and recipes…two very important things in my life after friends and family, of course.
Two years ago I completed my first half marathon in Phoenix (P.F. Changs Rock and Roll marathon). I wasn’t a runner either but just you can’t beat the feeling of accomplishing your goal and running across the finish line! It was so great that I did another one this year…check it out on my blog if you get a chance. Best of luck to you!
Thank you! I can’t wait to cross that finish line!
Thanks for the encouragement!
It’s good to hear from a non-runner that it can be done
hey allie! i wanted to wish you well with your training! i just finished my second half a few weeks ago in DC (i ran it last year too) and am going to sign up for the marine corps marathon in october. i’m sure you remember how NO ONE (especially not me) liked laps even back in our kiddie soccer days. isn’t that why we drank orange soda and mountain dew at soccer camp? in hopes to generate enough fake energy to make it through the drills? but if i can do it, you can totally do it. if you’re ever home and looking for company on a long run, let me know! maybe we can get benjamin off his bum ass and join us.
Thank you! Haha. I still wish for fake energy every run but at least I don’t hate it as much as I used to! Go luck in october. That’s when I’m running my half actually. The Baltimore Marathon with my mom.
fantastic goal! i challenged myself to run my first race early this month. It was only 10 km but prior to that i couldn’t jog for more than 15 seconds before I’d have to stop, so 10 km was huge for me. I’m certain you can run your marathon
Your blog title was totally me just a month ago
love it. All the best!
Thank you for the comment! It’s so motivating to know that I’m not alone! I WALKED a 10k once, running one is still not in my cards haha. But I’m working on it! Congrats on your race!
